Regional Theatre Placement

Stage One launched the regional producer placement scheme in 2013 in order to increase communication and shared knowledge across the subsidised and commercial sectors. The placement not only benefits the producer but also the host theatre/organisation as they have further opportunity to produce in-house.

How does it work?

Each year, Stage One partners with 4 subsidised houses across the UK to recruit, train and support 4 talented producers through a year-long fully funded placement scheme. Emerging producers will have the opportunity to apply for a placement at one or all venues and following successful shortlist from Stage One will have the opportunity to interview with the theatre’s producing team. The producer will have the opportunity to assist in producing high quality, potentially commercial work learn of the challenges and opportunity of working in a theatre venue.

26 placements since the launch in 2013

Placements are currently being held at:

  • Birmingham Repertory Theatre
  • Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse
  • Mercury Theatre Colchester
  • Sherman Theatre

“Stage One has had an extraordinary impact on the UK theatre landscape, providing important opportunities for emerging producers across the country, and we’re delighted to be partnering with them at a significant time for HOME.
We look forward to providing an opportunity for a talented young producer to help us bring in new work by an exciting generation of artists to the stages in Manchester and across the country.”
